PTA Approves Wi-Fi 7 Adoption in Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has approved the use of Wi-Fi 7 and future Wi-Fi generations within the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz).

In its announcement, the regulator said the approval follows the parameters earlier set for Wi-Fi 6E and marks a major step in advancing the country’s digital connectivity. With this move, Pakistan joins the ranks of early adopters of Wi-Fi 7 in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to PTA, the development is expected to deliver faster and more reliable connectivity across various sectors, further strengthening Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda.

Wi-Fi 7 is designed to offer ultra-high data speeds, reduced latency, and improved reliability. The technology will enable advanced applications, including 8K video streaming, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and industrial automation. By reducing congestion in existing spectrum bands, Wi-Fi 7 will also enhance user experience and support next-generation digital services.
